After pitching 4 1/3 scoreless innings over two outings for San Diego in his big league pitching debut, Jason Lane was designated for assignment and consequently outrighted back to AAA El Paso by the Padres. The move was necessitated to make room on the Padres' roster for Andrew Cashner, who had been on the disabled list. Lane rejoins the Chihuahuas in El Paso where they are currently on an eight-game home stand.
