Former Rice Owl to Start at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday Night

A former Rice Owl is scheduled to start San Antonio's game Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park against the Corpus Christi Hooks.  Josh Geer, who won 12 games for Rice in 2005, has made 12 starts in 2014 for the Padres' AA affiliate.

Geer was drafted in the third round by the Padres after the 2005 season.  He reached the majors in 2008 and 2009, and appeared in a total of 24 games(22 starts) for San Diego over those two seasons.

In 2005, with Rice, Geer was the Most Outstanding Player of the Minute Maid Park College Baseball Classic.  He allowed just one unearned run over eight innings against Texas A&M in an Owls victory on February 12, 2005.  Geer also made one Major League start at Minute Maid Park as a Padre in 2009.
